 While bumrah was expected to receive the international Cricket Council's Player of the Month award for October, he was not given the award. New Zealand's young player Rachin ravindra has been awarded the Player of the Year award by the international Cricket Council. With all the teams playing in the world cup series in October, the Player of the Month award has been selected based on the performance of the world cup matches.
Indian fast bowler bumrah took 14 wickets in six world cup league matches in October. His bowling economy was less than 4 runs per over. That means bumrah didn't just take a wicket. He was a tyrant in giving runs and recorded a world-class bowling performance. In the same October, bumrah was nominated for the Man of the Match award only because no other bowler had more wickets and economy. De Kock scored 3 centuries and scored 431 runs in six world cup matches.
Rachin ravindra scored 406 runs in six matches. However, his average was higher than de Kock's at 81.20 as he had few matches to go unbeaten. Among the three players, bumrah was leading in terms of both wickets and economy. However, he was not awarded the best player award. Rachin ravindra has been awarded the Player of the Year Award for having the highest batting average. Some people are arguing on the internet that bumrah was wrong not to get the award even though he is the best player in the world. They have been criticizing bowlers as the international Cricket Council does not take them for granted. Others are saying that it is not normal for Rachin to score runs in the world cup as a young player and therefore it is right to give him the award.
