Anyother Captain would have Lost, but Not MS Dhoni

In the 10th over of Monday's batting innings for chennai Super Kings, an odd event occurred. Wanindu Hasaranga would be slogged over the cow corner by Ajinkya Rahane. In the three overs before that, thirty runs were scored. The run rate for CSK was close to 10. And yet Rahane made the decision to depart from the impeccable touch-play that had earned him 37 runs off 19 balls up to that point. As a result of his miss, the googly crept through his heave and castled him.
In a match when 444 runs were scored over 40 overs, it was a somewhat unremarkable but symbolic event. And in some respects played a key role in the visitors just winning by eight runs in another extremely entertaining bat-v-bat match at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. sunil gavaskar said it was all ms dhoni for keeping calm and trusting the process, and not allowing the burden on the fielders or bowlers. He said there can never be another ms dhoni,

The smaller elements are up for debate here. At the opening of the over, Devon Conway had already hit a six off Hasaranga. Rahane was courting problems by attempting such a shot because he is unquestionably a stronger t20 hitter facing pace than spin. But he was doing it voluntarily since at that point, his job had essentially been completed. After 4 overs, he had helped CSK recover from being 25/1 and given them a 53-run PowerPlay by scoring 28 runs off of the 14 balls he data-faced despite the fielding restrictions. If he failed in his attempt to increase his strike rate from 185 at the halfway point of the innings, it was a risk well worth taking.
