He is constantly giving statements about Kohli's retirement. First of all, former captain, shahid Afridi had advised kohli to retire. Now, former fast bowler, shoaib akhtar has given his opinion.

Kohli's return to form has brought new energy to Team india before the t20 World Cup. The tournament will begin on october 16. India's first match will be against pakistan on 23 October. Before that, shoaib akhtar believes that kohli can retire from the shortest format of cricket (T20) after the t20 World Cup.

Akhtar said in a conversation with a website, "Kohli can retire after the t20 World Cup. He may do this to play longer in other formats. Had I been in his place, I would have taken this decision.” kohli is the first player to play 100-100 matches in all three formats for India. He has scored 3584 runs in 104 t20 Internationals at an average of 51.94. Before Akhtar, shahid Afridi had advised Virat that it is better to retire at the peak of his career than to be out of the team or to be questioned. Afridi had said that Virat has a better sense of timing when it comes to cricketers from Asia and would probably leave the game at its peak.

He had said during a conversation on a Pakistani channel, "The way Virat has played, the start of his career, initially, he was struggling before making a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe That there comes a time when you are moving towards sannyas. But in that, the aim should be to remain at your level and take sannyas."

He further said, "You should not reach a level where you are dropped from the team. Instead, you should retire when you are at your peak. Although this rarely happens. Very few players, special Usually, Asian cricketers take that decision, but I think when Virat does it, he will do it in style and probably the way he started his career."

Afridi had retired several times in his career. His first Test retirement came in 2006, which was withdrawn within a few weeks. He retired from Test cricket again in 2010 after captaining pakistan in a Test against Australia. Afridi, who captained pakistan in the 2011 world cup, announced his retirement from all forms of the game after the world event but withdrew at the request of the board. He led the team in the 2015 ODI world cup and finally decided to quit all formats of the game in 2017.
