I turned off the TV..! Ashwin's sensational speech..!?
Cricketer Ashwin's comment that he turns off the tv without watching one-day matches has attracted everyone's attention. The indian team is playing in the one-day series against England. Currently, Ashwin is not given a chance in ODIs. You might think that Ashwin has openly said that he is going to switch off the television because of that. But that is not the reason. In 2011, the ICC introduced the two-ball rule in ODIs. This situation of implementing one new ball per end was a disaster for the bowlers. The bowlers thought that the new ball at both ends would swing the ball better, but it turned upside down and the batsmen scored runs.
Ashwin has now spoken about this. Ashwin mentioned that it is boring to watch ODI matches now and accused that there is no equal opportunity for bat and ball in ODI matches. Ashwin complained that ODI matches are a longer version of t20 cricket.
Ashwin mentioned that only if the same ball is used for 50 overs in ODIs as per the old system, it will attract the interest of the fans again. Spin bowling and reverse swing are not allowed in ODIs. As a result, the batsmen are accumulating runs to their liking. Ashwin said that even though 350 runs were scored, the opposition chased it successfully in the 47th over.
Ashwin said that ODI cricket is heading towards the path of destruction. The glory of ODI cricket is to score 60 runs off 60 balls. If there are only 7 wickets in hand, the bowlers will find victory for the team through tricks including reverse swing. But Ashwin alleges that there is no chance of such happening nowadays.
Ashwin said that in a one-day match, it is only good if the batsmen go to the end, then add runs to build the innings, and then the bowlers take wickets. As a result, the ICC has demanded that the same ball be used for all 50 overs.
