IPL 2022 TRP ratings Drop badly..!? Worst Start..!?
The mood for the 15th season of the IPL has dwindled, causing major problems for the BCCI. The current season started on march 26. After many years, 10 teams participated in this series. This season, as usual, Star sports has aired. This season, Star Channel has collected Rs 5,000 crore through advertisements alone. Thus the tv contract for the next 5 years was expected to go to auction on a large scale.
TV's TRP According to Park Ratings, the rating was 2.75 from march 26 to april 1. This is up from 3.75 in the first week of last season. As a result, the rating dropped by 33 percent. Not only the rating but also the number of viewers dropped significantly. The first week of the current season was watched by 22 crore people. But in the first week of last season, 26 crore people watched IPL matches on television. Nearly 14 percent of spectators do not watch IPL matches.
This has caused problems for Star sports Channel and the bcci, with the broadcasting rights for the last 5 years amounting to Rs 16,000 crore. The bcci has decided to increase this to Rs 40,000 crore. Currently, the TRP rating has dropped and the bcci is not getting as much money as it had hoped.
And the fact that the toss-winning team won the match due to the snowfall has reduced the interest in the IPL matches among the spectators. It is also feared that dhoni may step down as captain.
