The IPL was first started in 2008. The 20-over cricket tournament has received an overwhelming response from the fans. The 15th edition of the IPL will be a spectacular affair. The cricket festival started in mumbai yesterday. The chennai Super Kings, led by Jadeja, lost to the kolkata Knight Riders which was led by shreyas iyer, in the first match of the 2022 IPL. kolkata fielded first as they won the toss. In the batting, chennai opener Rudraj kejriwal was out and Conway was out for 3 runs.
Uthappa (28), ambati rayudu (15), and shivam dube (3) continued the batting line-up as dhoni batted patiently for the 7th wicket and batted aggressively in the last overs. dhoni was unbeaten on 50 off 38 balls and Jadeja was unbeaten on 26 off 28 balls as the kolkata Knight Riders set a target of 132 for victory.
KKR bowlers - umesh yadav (2/20) and varun Chakraborty (1/23) bowled well to control the chennai Super Kings 131-5.  MS dhoni scored the most runs and captured the Orange Cup. The former CSK captain, who has not been on the run for the past two seasons, has got the perfect start to IPL 2022.

KKR opener Ajinkya Rahane (44 off 34 balls) and sam Billings (25) were the next to open the innings. Nitish Rana (20) and shreyas iyer (20 not out) also helped the team to victory. The KKR team, which lost four wickets, reached the target of 132 runs in 18.3 overs.Chennai Super Kings scored 131-5 in 20 overs with ms dhoni not out.
KKR was 133-4 in 18.3 overs and won the match. chennai Super Kings will take on KL Rahul's lucknow Super Giants on march 31 and kolkata Knight Riders will take on Faf du Plessis' royal challengers Bangalore on march 30.
