There was no plan to change Captaincy: sourav ganguly blames Virat
BCCI President sourav ganguly said that bcci had already asked Virat not to step down from his T20I captaincy. He also added that there was no plan which was made ahead to change the captaincy. Virat has stepped down as T20I captain and the bcci selectors had decided not to split limited-overs captaincy and gone for a complete separation.
Virat kohli could have stayed as captain irrespective of the performance of india in T20. After his quit as a captain in the shortest format, the bcci selectors had started to completely separate white-ball and red-ball leadership to avoid any chaos and confusion.
There are some thoughts that the failure in an ICC event had made pressure on Virat's captaincy and its result n the t20 world cup can also be the bearing. It is also understood that the selectors from bcci could have retained Virat as captain in every format.
Ganguly also spoke about the good performance of the team under Virat's charge and the winning in the ICC game is the only missing piece. He also added that ms dhoni was brought in as the team mentor to help kohli in t20 world cup which was completely accepted by India's former Skipper.
