Tim Seifert, a wicketkeeper-batsman from new zealand, tested positive for Covid-19 while playing for the kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL's curtailed 2021 edition. As a result, he will not be on the charter flight to the IPL with the rest of the new zealand team. Instead, he will be kept in solitary confinement in ahmedabad while awaiting referral to a private hospital in Chennai.

According to a new zealand cricket (NZC) press release released on saturday, Seifert failed each of his pre-departure PCR examinations and "is having mild symptoms." In the ten days leading up to his pre-departure protocols, Seifert had returned seven negative samples, according to the release.

Varun chakravarthy and sandeep Warrier of the Knight Riders tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week, marking the first positive cases inside an IPL team bubble since the 2021 season began.

"It's really unfortunate for Tim and we'll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative, and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he's well again," David White, NZC chief executive, said.

"Since receiving the news, we've organised support for Tim and have also - via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they're kept fully informed and updated on developments," he added.
