Top 6 women athletes who are Kerala’s pride

Kerala has produced a lot of women athletes in the last three decades. Out of the 16 Arjuna Award winners in the state, 14 are women. Let us see the top women that Kerala is proud of.
1. Angel Mary John

It all started with Angel Mary John when she won a silver medal for India at the Bangkok Asian Games in 1978.

2. MD Valsamma

In 1982, Valsamma surprised the entire country with a gold medal at the Delhi Asian games. 


3. P.T.Usha

In the 1982 New Delhi Asiad, she got the silver medal, but at the Asian Track and Field Championship in Kuwait a year later, she took the gold medal with a new Asian record. From 1983–89, she garnered 13 gold medals at ATF meets.


4. Shiny Wilson

She won seven gold, five silver and two bronze medals in the Asiad competitions. She collected a total or 18 gold and two silver medals from SAF meets.


5. Anju Bobby George

Anju Bobby George made history when she won the bronze medal in Long Jump at the 2003 in Paris. With this achievement, she became the first Indian athlete ever to win a medal in a World Championships in Athletics jumping 6.70 m. She went on to win the Gold medal at the IAAF World Athletics. 


6. Tintu Luka

Tintu Luka, the third Indian woman to enter the semi-finals of an Olympics event, is Kerala's latest object of pride. She is handpicked and coached by P.T.Usha.
