This app will offer early notice of any potential landslides along the route of travel, as well as weather updates from the Meteorological Department. The uttarakhand Tourism Development Board has created a smartphone application to ensure the safety of pilgrims visiting Hemkunt Sahib and Char Dham in Uttarakhand.

This 'Tourist Care System' smartphone app, built by the state's tourist agency, will assist pilgrims visiting Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and the iconic Sikh temple Hemkunt Sahib in the Himalayan slopes with weather and landslide reports.

The app will deliver Meteorological Department weather updates as well as prior notice of any potential landslides along the route of travel. According to uttarakhand Tourism Secretary dilip Jawalkar, after installing this app, travellers' travel routes would be tracked by 5 setters and 28 high definition cameras deployed. These cameras are placed in 14 predetermined areas. This app is compatible with Android phones. If a person does not have an Android camera, a bracelet with a personalised QR code will be supplied to him or her. Which will be linked to the tourist care system. And it is via this ring that the pilgrims will receive all required information.

Jawalkar further stated that the tourist vehicle's licence plate will be linked to this app via an automated number plate recorder. Following that, all passengers will be able to access updates on their journey route, weather, and any essential alerts via this app. A control room at UTDB's hand-courter will be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The purpose of this control room is to guarantee that the entire system functions properly. This year's Char Dham yatra will begin on May 3 with the inauguration of the Yamunotri and Gangotri temples.
