Fuel Relief: Central Price Cut.!

The recent reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 by the central government has provided relief to customers, with the actual benefits varying across states due to differences in Value Added Tax (VAT) rates. The disparity in petrol and diesel prices among states highlights the significant role played by VAT in determining fuel prices. States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and kerala witness the highest petrol and diesel prices, surpassing Rs 100 per litre.

In Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, petrol is priced at Rs 109.87 per liter, while in kerala, governed by the Left Democratic Front (LDF), it stands at Rs 107.54, and in Congress-ruled Telangana, it's Rs 107.39 per liter. BJP-ruled states like Bhopal, Patna, Jaipur, and mumbai also witness high petrol prices, ranging from Rs 103.93 to Rs 106.45 per litre. 


Meanwhile, the cheapest petrol rates are found in andaman and Nicobar Islands, where it's priced at Rs 82 per liter, followed by silvassa and Daman at Rs 92.38 and Rs 92.49 per liter, respectively. Similarly, diesel prices exhibit a similar pattern, with Andhra Pradesh, kerala, Telangana, and chhattisgarh witnessing higher rates, while states like andaman and Nicobar, Delhi, and goa offer the lowest diesel prices. 


In Delhi, diesel is priced at Rs 94.76 per liter, while it's Rs 96.12 per liter in guwahati and Rs 93.68 per liter in Aizawl. Overall, the variability in fuel prices across states underscores the influence of VAT rates and state policies on the final consumer prices, with some regions experiencing significantly higher fuel costs than others.
