The escalating traffic predicament in hyderabad has become a ubiquitous woe, with commuters sharing tales of congestion during both morning and evening rush hours. The situation exacerbates during the rainy season, depicting even more challenging scenarios in movies. To address this issue, there is a concerted effort to implement tunnel roads as a strategic solution to alleviate traffic problems in the city. 

Recognizing the gravity of the escalating traffic concerns, chief minister Revanth reddy has consistently engaged officials in comprehensive reviews and directives to explore on-the-ground solutions. The focus has zeroed in on the construction of tunnel roads, and ghmc officials have meticulously prepared proposals to this effect. In a significant development, the ghmc is poised to construct five new tunnels in hyderabad, and there are plans to invite tenders soon to seek detailed project reports (DPR) on the feasibility of these proposed tunnels.


The proposed tunnel routes include ITC Kohinoor to wipro Circle via Khajaguda to Nanak Ranguda, ITC Kohinoor to Kukatpalli JNTU via Mind Space, ITC Kohinoor to banjara hills Road No. 10 via jubilee hills Road No. 45, GVK One Mall to Nanal nagar via Masab Tank, and nampally to Chandrayangutta Inner Ring Road via charminar and Falaknuma.


GHMC officials assert that these tunnel constructions represent a judicious decision to mitigate existing traffic congestion. The implementation of road tunnels in these specified corridors is anticipated to substantially alleviate traffic issues, fostering improved connectivity across Hyderabad.
