🚨 New Gas Cylinder Scam Targeting Consumers

Scammers are exploiting the current LPG cylinder situation by luring people with fake offers and urgent messages, especially through WhatsApp, SMS, and fake websites.

📍 Here’s How the Scam Works

Fake Delivery Links & Messages – Fraudsters send messages claiming you can book or get next‑day gas cylinder delivery by clicking a link. These links often lead to fraudulent payment pages designed to steal your banking or personal details.

Bogus KYC/Update Requests – Messages urging you to update gas KYC details or “confirm your LPG booking immediately” are being used to trick users into sharing sensitive financial information.

Panic Fear Tactics – Some scams falsely claim that if you don’t act quickly, your cylinder will be given to someone else — pushing victims to click links or make payments out of fear.

High‑Value Fraud Cases Reported – In one recent case in Maharashtra, two women were duped of over ₹4 lakh after signing what they thought was a legitimate “gas info update form.”

🛑 How to Protect Yourself

  • Don’t click suspicious links sent via whatsapp or SMS about LPG deliveries or urgent updates.
  • Never share bank details, OTPs, or passwords with anyone claiming to be a gas agency or delivery service.
  • Book gas cylinders only through official channels — either the authorized mobile apps or your local gas dealer’s verified contact.
  • If you receive unusual calls/texts, report them to local police or cybercrime authorities immediately.
