Indian Railways is making a
major change to its mobile ticketing system — and this change affects millions of daily commuters and travellers who use railway apps to book tickets. The traditional
UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app that many people use for booking general and platform tickets is being
phased out and discontinued starting
1 March 2026.
🛑 What Is the UTS App and Why Is It Being Discontinued?UTS App ExplainedThe
UTS on Mobile app has been widely used by railway passengers to book:
- Unreserved (general) tickets
- Platform tickets
- Season and travel passes
However, indian Railways has decided to
withdraw this app completely by 1 March 2026. After this date, the UTS app will no longer support ticket booking services.
Why Is It Being Discontinued? The discontinuation is part of a broader
digital transformation strategy by indian Railways to
simplify passenger services by consolidating multiple apps into a single platform that provides all railway services seamlessly.
🚆 Introducing the New Unified App: RailOneWhat Is RailOne?The new
RailOne app is the
official integrated application introduced by indian Railways to replace separate apps — including the UTS app — for various passenger services. RailOne combines:
- Ticket booking (reserved and unreserved)
- Platform ticket booking
- Train enquiry and PNR status
- Train schedule and routes
- Other passenger assistance features
This “super app” is designed to provide a
one‑stop wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital experience for all railway services through a single interdata-face.
How It Helps PassengersInstead of juggling different apps for different tasks (like UTS for general tickets, irctc app for reserved tickets, and other tools), RailOne lets you
use one account and app for nearly everything related to train travel. Existing UTS or irctc credentials will typically work on RailOne as well.
🧭 What You Need to Do as a PassengerBefore 1 march 2026- Continue using the UTS app as usual for booking unreserved and platform tickets.
From 1 march 2026 Onwards- Install and use the RailOne app for all ticket booking needs.
- UTS app features will no longer work after the cutoff date.
- Reserved and other ticket services will continue on RailOne.
This change aims to make the ticketing process more streamlined and efficient for all travellers.
💡 Tips for a Smooth Transition- Download RailOne ahead of time from your phone’s app store.
- Use your existing railway login credentials (like from UTS or IRCTC) to sign in.
- Familiarise yourself with the app features before the old UTS app stops working.
- If you have wallet or ticket credits in the old UTS app, check transfer or usage options — indian Railways usually provides ways to migrate balances.
