New Delhi: prime minister Narendra Modi warmly commended the Union Budget 2026‑27, highlighting its strong focus on women’s development and its role in steering india toward the goal of becoming a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047.

Addressing parliament after Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget, PM Modi described it as a “historic budget” and a “highway of opportunities” that reflects India’s aspirations and sets a clear roadmap for the future. He said the budget not only addresses economic priorities such as inflation control and fiscal discipline but also places special importance on empowering women, which he referred to as showcasing the “nation’s feminine strength.”

The prime minister underscored that this budget supports the government’s broader vision for a developed india by the centenary year of independence — 2047 — by empowering all sections of society, especially women. He said that strengthening women’s role in the economy and society is central to achieving inclusive and sustainable growth.

Although detailed allocations and scheme names are outlined by the Finance Ministry, broader budget proposals have been noted for their focus on women’s education, employment, and economic participation. Earlier budget discussions highlighted large allocations for women‑centric schemes and initiatives aimed at increasing workforce participation, supporting women entrepreneurs, and fostering financial independence among women across urban and rural areas.

By placing women’s development at the heart of national policy priorities, the government aims to not only boost economic growth but also ensure gender‑inclusive development — a key element of the long‑term strategy for a strong and self‑reliant India.
