SCR Special Trains for Sankranti Travel Rush

🚆 Why SCR Is Adding More Special Trains

South Central Railway has announced three additional special train services between Hyderabad (Charlapalli) and Anakapalle in Andhra Pradesh to manage the heavy passenger rush ahead of the Makar sankranti festival. The festive travel period — especially in january — sees millions of people heading home, so railways expand services to ease crowding and reduce waitlists.

SCR has been stepping up capacity with a broader festival plan that includes around 170 special trains on key routes and 130 others passing through Andhra Pradesh — all to handle the holiday travel surge.

These extra trains are specifically scheduled between Charlapalli (near Hyderabad) and Anakapalle on select january dates:

🗺️ Route & Stoppage Info

The newly added trains traverse key stations along the Hyderabad–Coastal Andhra corridor, a busy travel axis for festival traffic. Typical stops on these special services include:

Nalgonda
Miryalaguda
Sattenapalli
Guntur
Vijayawada
Gudivada / Kaikalur / bhimavaram Town
Tanuku / rajahmundry / annavaram / tuni / Elamanchili → before reaching Anakapalle / Charlapalli stations.

These stops serve major towns and junctions that are high‑demand pickup points for Swarajya and interstate travellers.

🎯 What This Means for Passengers

📌 More Travel Options

  • These services reduce waitlisted tickets on regular trains during a peak period.
  • They offer alternative overnight connections between hyderabad and coastal andhra pradesh — useful for families and workers travelling home.
📌 Better Crowd Management

  • SCR’s broader festive plan aims to manage overcrowding at major stations like Secunderabad and Cherlapalli by spreading demand over multiple special trains.
  • This includes trains already announced between Hyderabad and Vijayawada and others on routes like Sirpur Kagazhnagar or Visakhapatnam.
🧠 Travel Tips

 Book Early:
If you plan to travel during the sankranti period, book as soon as reservations open since special trains fill up fast.

 Check Timetables:
Timings noted above are specific journeys — always verify before departure as special train schedules can change slightly based on operational needs.

 Be Ready for Busy Stations:
With extra trains and rail traffic, major stations may be crowded; arrive early and plan local transport accordingly.
