Aadhaar PVC Card Fee Hiked to ₹75: Know the Reason & How to Apply Online

Kokila Chokkanathan
The Unique Identification Authority of india (UIDAI) has raised the charges for ordering an Aadhaar PVC Card — the durable, wallet‑friendly version of your Aadhaar identity document. This change took effect from January 1, 2026 and affects anyone applying for a PVC Aadhaar card online.

📌 What’s Changed?

Earlier, residents could order a PVC Aadhaar card for 50 (inclusive of taxes). Now, the fee has been increased to 75, inclusive of all applicable taxes and Speed Post delivery charges. This means you’ll pay ₹25 more than before when you request your PVC card.

👉 This applies to orders placed through official channels like:

  • myAadhaar portal on the uidai website
  • mAadhaar mobile app
Whether you are ordering the card for the first time or reordering it, the new fee applies.
🧾 Why Did the Fee Go Up?

According to uidai, the fee was revised after considering several factors:

  • Rising cost of materials used in making the PVC cards
  • Higher printing expenses over the years
  • Secure delivery and logistics costs
These combined increases made it necessary to raise the fee so that the quality of the card and the delivery service are maintained.
It’s worth noting that this is the first fee revision for the Aadhaar PVC card service since its introduction in 2020.

📌 About the Aadhaar PVC Card

The Aadhaar PVC card is a plastic Aadhaar card designed to be:

  • Stronger and more durable than the paper Aadhaar letter
  • Pocket‑data-sized like a debit or credit card
  • Carrying the same legal validity as your e‑Aadhaar or printed Aadhaar copy
Many people prefer the PVC version because it’s easier to carry and doesn’t tear or fade like paper.
