NHRC Slams TN Govt Over Coimbatore Gangrape ..?
Kanoongo held the tamil Nadu government responsible for failing to ensure women’s safety.
He questioned, “How many more Nirbhayas will it take for governments to ensure women's safety?”
Describing the crime as heartbreaking, he called it a complete failure on the state government’s part to protect citizens.
Parallels with the Nirbhaya Case
Kanoongo highlighted that the coimbatore incident reminded the nation of the Nirbhaya case in Delhi, which led to nationwide protests for justice and stronger legal frameworks for women’s safety.
He emphadata-sized that despite these measures, girls in tamil Nadu are still unsafe, showing a lapse in government responsibility.
Kanoongo stated that ensuring daughters’ safety and security should be a top priority for the government.

NHRC’s Message
Kanoongo urged the government to take immediate action to prevent further incidents.
