The donald trump administration has ramped up its crackdown on illegal immigration, announcing that foreign nationals who remain in the U.S. for over 30 days without proper registration will data-face fines and imprisonment.

In a statement titled “Message to Illegal Aliens,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) emphadata-sized the importance of self-deportation. The DHS posted on social media, urging foreign nationals to comply with the law: “Foreign nationals present in the U.S. for longer than 30 days must register with the federal government. Failure to comply is a crime punishable by fines and imprisonment.”

The message, which tagged President donald trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, urged individuals to leave voluntarily, stating, “Leave now and self-deport.” Immigrants who stay beyond the 30-day deadline could data-face a fine of USD 998 per day (approximately Rs 85,924), once a final order to self-deport is issued. The administration continues to push for stricter enforcement and quicker deportation measures.

In what sounds like the plot of a dystopian reality show, the trump administration has generously given foreign nationals a whole 30 days to either “self-deport” or data-face the delightful combo of jail time and a nearly $1,000-a-day fine. Because nothing says "land of opportunity" like threatening immigrants with bankruptcy and prison for not filing paperwork fast enough.

The Department of Homeland Security, now apparently moonlighting as a twitter influencer, dropped the announcement like a casual weekend plan: “Just register with the federal government, or else!” And who better to deliver this ultimatum than President donald trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem—tagged like it’s an instagram story, not federal policy.

In a country built by immigrants, the new message seems to be: “Thanks for coming, now leave—before we send you a bill.” Who needs compassion or comprehensive reform when you’ve got hashtags, fines, and threats?
