Telangana cm Revanth reddy Passes Resolution Demanding Increase In assembly Seats From 119 To 153

The resolution moved by telangana chief minister Revanth reddy urged the Union government to introduce the necessary constitutional amendments to facilitate this expansion.

Telangana chief minister Revanth reddy has moved a resolution in the State assembly calling for an immediate increase in the number of assembly seats from 119 to 153, as per the provisions of the andhra pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. The resolution urges the Union government to introduce the necessary constitutional amendments to facilitate this expansion.



Telangana government Resolution stated, "...The number of seats in the State assembly should be immediately increased from 119 to 153 pursuant to the A.P  Reorganization Act, 2014 and as per latest census. This house urges the  Union government to introduce necessary Constitutional amendments for  this purpose."


He said that according to the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, the constituencies should have been re-divided in andhra pradesh and Telangana, but the central government is discriminating in this matter. He informed that in response to a question asked in Parliament, the Centre had said that this process would start only after the 2026 census.


He said that this proposal has been presented in the assembly to expose the double policies of the Central Government.
