A major rail accident took place in Amethi on tuesday (18 March) morning. A dumper broke the gate which was closing at the Poore Shohrat railway crossing of Nihalgarh railway station and reached the rail track. The gateman closed the gate and ran away from there to save his life. The dumper got stuck on the railway track, causing chaos. Meanwhile, a goods train passing at high speed hit the dumper stuck on the track and dragged it for about 100 meters. Due to the accident, many electric poles and railway lines were damaged, due to which rail operations were disrupted. The railway administration has reached the spot and started relief work and has started trying to repair the track as soon as possible.
Truck reached the track after breaking the crossing
According to the information received, after getting the signal of the arrival of a goods train going towards varanasi from Nihalgarh railway station, the gateman of Poore Shohrat railway crossing anand Harsh Vardhan was closing the gate. After the crossing was closed, a dumper going from Raebareli to ayodhya broke the crossing boom and reached the railway track. On seeing the dumper on the track, the gateman closed the crossing completely.
When the crossing was closed, the dumper driver parked the vehicle on the side of the down railway line and asked the gateman to open the crossing, but the gateman ignored his words and fled from the spot. Before the driver could understand anything, the goods train came and after hitting the dumper, dragged it for 100 meters. In the accident, the dumper and the engine of the goods train along with Ochi, electric line, pole, barricading, wire and other items were damaged.
Dumper's helper injured
In the accident, the dumper driver also escaped from the spot, but the helper was injured. The Khalasi has been identified as Sonu Chaudhary, a resident of Marwatia Rudhauli in Basti district. Railway officials were in a panic as soon as the incident was reported. Railway personnel reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations and informed the higher officials about the matter.
After the information, the damaged railway line was repaired in the presence of the team of Railway Safety and Security including the Northern Railway Division lucknow Railway Manager. The damaged railway line and pole were repaired by clearing the path by cutting it with a gas cutter amid safety rules. There was also difficulty in working in the dark due to disruption in the supply of poles installed along the track in the morning. After hard work of the workers, the damaged pole and other equipment could be repaired at around 8:30 in the morning.
