Rakesh Rathore is accused of rape. police arrested Rakesh Rathore when he was giving a press conference at his house in Loharbagh after his anticipatory bail was rejected by the High Court. police took him into custody in the middle of the conference. On wednesday itself, the interim bail petition was rejected in the lucknow bench of the High Court. After the arrest, the police produced the mp in the court, where a decision will be taken on his bail.
The congress mp had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the high court to avoid arrest in this case, but on wednesday the High Court's lucknow bench rejected his petition and clearly asked him to surrender. A day before this, the CJM court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. Today, on Thursday, when Rakesh Rathore was holding a press conference at his residence, the police reached there and took him into custody.
Rakesh Rathore arrested on rape charges
On january 17, a woman accused Rakesh Rathore of raping her on the pretext of marriage at Kotwali nagar police station. The woman had filed a case against the mp on charges of sexual exploitation since four years. The woman also gave phone call records to the police as evidence and told that she was being threatened. The police filed a case in this matter and sent a notice to the mp to record his statement, but despite this, he did not come to record his statement, after which the police filed an application in the CJM court and got a non-bailable arrest warrant issued from the court.
Ever since the case was registered, Rakesh Rathore was trying to get anticipatory bail from the court. He first filed a bail application in the CJM court which was rejected by the court. After this, he filed an anticipatory bail petition in the high court but the high court also rejected his application and ordered him to surrender.
