Water crisis in Nashik, Maharashtra! Administration bans wells...

Many worrying information is coming out from the report of the Ground Water survey Department of Nashik. After this report, digging wells has been banned in 776 villages of Nashik district. Actually, the water level has decreased due to excessive extraction of water for drinking water and irrigation. Villages which have exploited more than 100 percent have been instructed to ban further digging of wells.

According to the report of ABP Majha, the water level has decreased in many talukas of Nashik district. Nashik district has the highest agriculture and mainly onion, sugarcane, wheat and grapes are also cultivated. The survey department has informed that the groundwater level has fallen severely in Yeola, Niphad, Sinnar and Igatpuri, Kalwal, Nashik talukas, where most of the farming is done.

Water disaster hits farmers

Villages adjacent to Girwane-Alandi dam in Nashik taluka have also seen a very serious drop in groundwater level. Therefore, farmers will now have to work hard to save the crop in the field. In some places, there is not enough water for crops like grapes, onions, wheat and the situation has arisen that in future farmers may have to arrange tankers to save this crop. Due to water shortage in the month of january itself, there is a possibility of farmers not getting enough water for their crops. Agricultural production is also falling sharply.

These farmers will not get subsidy

A very serious situation was seen in Maturi-Mungsara Shivara of Nashik taluka. Farmers will not get government subsidy either because after the groundwater survey report comes, there is an instruction not to allow farmers to dig a separate well. This has created a double crisis for these farmers. The main reason for the water level going down is excessive absorption of water and failure to stop rainwater. In such a situation, it is expected that the government's plans to stop water should be implemented effectively.
