The FM of the country who did not get chance to present budget!
On february 1, 2025, at 11 am, the Finance minister of the country, Nirmala Sitharaman, will present the general budget. The people of the country have high expectations from this budget. One of the biggest and most important tasks of the Finance minister is to prepare and present the country's budget. But, what if a Finance minister does not get a chance to present the budget. You must be wondering how this can happen. But, it has happened. A Finance minister of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's government did not get a chance to present the budget. Let us know why this happened and what were the big reasons behind it.
Who was that Finance Minister?
India's budget has always been considered the most important document to determine the direction of the country's economy. This budget presented by the Finance minister every year reflects the priorities of the country's economic management and policies. But do you know that in the history of India, there was also a Finance minister who did not present the budget despite taking charge of the Finance Ministry. The Finance minister we are talking about is KC Niyogi. KC Niyogi was the first interim Finance minister of India. He was given this responsibility in 1949. He was appointed during the tenure of the then prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Niyogi was a well-known economist and former governor of the Reserve bank of India.

Why could he not present the budget?
Actually, KC Niyogi's tenure was only four months and it was such a short period that he did not get a chance to prepare the budget and present it in Parliament. After him, john Mathai became the Finance minister in 1950 and presented the first budget of independent India. Although Niyogi's tenure was short, he played an important role in strengthening the foundation of indian financial administration. He worked towards bringing stability in economic policies and giving a new direction to the economy of independent India.
Bahuguna was also not able to present the budget
Apart from KC Niyogi, H.N. Bahuguna was also a Finance minister who could not present the budget. Bahuguna took over as Finance minister in 1979, but resigned shortly afterwards amid political turmoil.
