More than 6 kg of gold seized at Mumbai airport...

Reportedly mumbai DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) has arrested four people smuggling gold from Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj Airport. The agency has recovered gold worth Rs 4 crore 84 lakh from the arrested accused. The smugglers were smuggling this gold by converting it into dust wax. Before this, these accused were caught. Sources associated with DRI said that information was received about a gang of airport employees working in the duty free shop at Chhatrapati shivaji Maharashtra airport mumbai being involved in gold smuggling, based on this information this action was taken.

Meanwhile sources said that this staff used to collect gold from smugglers in small pieces from the international transit terminal and then used to collect it and take it out of the airport. Sources also said that after this, DRI took action and caught two such airport employees while they were taking the smuggled gold out of the airport. In the subsequent action, when it was found out to whom they were giving the gold, two receivers who took the gold were also caught.

On investigation, 5 oval capsules and 2 packets of gold dust in the form of wax were found. On investigation, it was found that this is gold weighing 6.05 kg and the value of this gold is Rs 4.84 crore. DRI has arrested all four people in this case under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and seized the gold. Further investigation is being done in the case.
