Reportedly Congress' maharashtra unit president Nana Patole on tuesday said that he has expressed his wish to resign from the post and now the party high command will decide on it. After the party's worst ever defeat in the maharashtra assembly elections, party sources had earlier claimed that the senior congress leader had requested the central leadership to relieve him of the responsibility of the organizational post. However, Patole had clarified last week that he has not resigned and rumors are being spread. When asked whether he has resigned from the post of congress state chief, Patole said, 'I have expressed my wish. The party high command will decide on it.' Let us tell you that the maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, which also includes congress, suffered a crushing defeat in the maharashtra assembly elections. congress won only 17 seats in the elections.

Previously Nana Patole had said on monday that the bill presented in parliament is not for 'One Nation, One Election', but it is a bill for 'One Nation, No Election'. These people want to end the system of democracy. However, our national leadership will discuss this bill in detail. He said, "Through this bill, this government wants to end democracy. It wants to ruin the country. If there is talk of only one election in the country, it will mean that the process of elections is being turned towards centralization.

Moreover he said that this is against the principles of democracy. In a democratic system, it is necessary to have elections repeatedly, because it gives the people of the country the right to choose their representatives." He said, "This proposal could have been possible only if the elections of four states were held simultaneously, but when the government is not able to conduct elections of four states simultaneously and is conducting elections in two phases, then the question arises that how will the government implement it. Patole said that all this is a kind of conspiracy, which aims to weaken the democratic institutions and change the system of the Constitution. He said, "This step of the government is against the basic principles of democracy, where the public has the right to choose their leaders. The cost of the machines being used for elections has also increased a lot and there are many problems in using these machines properly. This clearly shows that the government is failing to implement this change."
