The weather department's prediction has once again proved to be accurate. There was a possibility of light drizzle and snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions on 8 and 9 December, which proved to be true late saturday evening. Light snowfall was recorded in kedarnath and its surrounding hills, Tungnath area, and Madhyameshwar valley. This led to an increase in cold in the area. There was also light drizzle in the lower areas, which gave some relief in the dry weather for a long time.

After light snowfall in the kedarnath area, the temperature dropped. The devotees and local people coming here are facing severe cold. Fresh snowfall was also seen on the hills of Tungnath and Madhyameshwar valley. This change in weather has been seen after a long time in the higher Himalayan regions. Due to no rain for the last several weeks, drought-like conditions had started developing in the hilly areas. The farmers and local people were waiting for rain for a long time. After light drizzle, now everyone is hopeful that the rain will be normal in the coming days. If the rain does not happen on time, then the drought situation can become more serious.

Snowfall forecast in high altitude areas

The Meteorological Department said in its report released on sunday that there may be more snowfall in high altitude areas in the coming days. Also, there is a possibility of rain in the plains and lower hilly areas as well. However, the sudden change in the weather has increased the cold, which has affected life. The local people are excited about this change but even after light rain and snowfall, they are waiting for adequate rain. The farmer class is particularly worried, as the drought situation can have a negative impact on crop production. At the same time, people active in the tourism sector have expressed hope that the number of tourists will increase due to snowfall, which will improve their income.
