The police is now adopting a new way to protect itself from the attacks on the police team in Bihar. The police will now not only keep pistols or other weapons for security, but will also be equipped with chilli powder. In fact, the east Champaran (Motihari) police is making chilli powder a weapon after the continuous attacks by the mob.

'It is not appropriate to use weapons on people'

The police believes that it is not appropriate to use weapons after the attack on the police team by the mob under any circumstances, that is why it is using chilli powder and chilli spray. By the way, the police is now also taking action against those who attack the police team. Recently, east Champaran Superintendent of police Swarn Prabhat had reviewed the attacks on the police team. After the review, all the sub-divisional police officers, zonal inspectors and station in-charges of the district were instructed to take immediate action against the attackers by running a special campaign.

After this instruction, more than 42 people were arrested on the charge of attacking the police team by running a special campaign. According to the police, while five people were arrested in Dhaka subdivision for attacking the police team, six people were arrested in Areraj subdivision, 13 in Chakia, eight in Sadar-2, seven in Pakridyal subdivision. Apart from this, two people were arrested in Raxaul subdivision and one person in Sadar-1.

Superintendent of police Swarn Prabhat says that generally incidents of attack on police by anti-social elements have been happening. Stopping this was a big challenge for the police. police avoids using weapons immediately after such incidents, which is taken undue advantage of by anti-social elements. In such a situation, the police is now using chilli powder or pepper spray against such people. He told that this will also help in identifying anti-social elements immediately and will also spread fear in them.
