Uttarakhand Forest Department exposed bird smuggling!
The Forest Department has exposed a gang smuggling parrots from the forests of Uttarakhand. On sunday (October 13), the Forest Department arrested two youths with 47 live parrots. The smugglers were catching these parrots from the forests here and taking them to delhi to sell. The Forest Department later released these parrots in a safe forest. A case has been registered against both the accused under different sections of the indian Wildlife Protection Act. Further investigation is going on in the case.
Action on secret information
According to Deputy Divisional Forest Officer Shashi Dev, a joint team of the Forest Department and the security team had received information that some youths from Kheda were catching parrots from the forest and taking them to delhi to sell them. Based on this information, the team raided Kheda on Sunday. According to forest officer Shashi Dev, during the raid, the team recovered 47 live parrots from the house of Naeem Raza, son of Babu Raza, resident of Ward No. 17, Kheda. During this raid, Naeem Raza and Firasat Raza, son of Jafar Raza, resident of Reshambari Colony Ward 13, were arrested.
The plan was to sell them in Delhi
The forest department team also recovered two nets and two cages from the spot, which were being used to catch the parrots and keep them captive. The arrested youths revealed during interrogation that they were planning to sell these parrots in Delhi. Let us tell you, under the indian Wildlife Protection Act, it is strictly prohibited to catch, raise or sell protected birds like parrots. An FIR has been registered against both the accused under sections 9, 11, 39, 50, 51 and 57 of the Wildlife Protection Act.
Vigilance of Forest Department
Sub Divisional Forest Officer Shashi Dev said that protection of wildlife is our priority and strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the law. He said that the campaign of the Forest Department will continue in future as well, so that wildlife smuggling can be completely stopped.
