AAP Releases Initial List of 20 Candidates
On Monday, the aam aadmi party released its first list of 20 candidates for the haryana assembly elections, which are set for october 5. This move hints at a potential deadlock in the party's ongoing talks with the congress about a possible alliance. The nomination deadline for the 90-seat assembly is september 12. Anurag Dhanda, the party's vice president for haryana, has been nominated for Kalayat, while Indu Sharma will run for Bhiwani. Vikas Nehra and Bijender Hooda are the party's candidates for Meham and Rohtak, respectively.
AAP haryana chief Sushil Gupta commented on the release, stating, "We have revealed our first list and will announce the second one soon. With the election date approaching, we had hoped for an alliance, given our strong presence in every constituency. Our organization wanted to contest, and having waited patiently, we have now released our candidates. Despite the ongoing national discussions with the india Alliance, we decided to move forward independently."
The party has been negotiating with congress for a potential alliance in haryana, but talks have stalled over seat distribution. Reports suggest that AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, is seeking 10 seats, while congress is only offering five. Sushil Gupta mentioned that if an agreement is not reached by the end of the day, AAP will announce candidates for all 90 constituencies.
