Amendment bill related to allowances passed in Assembly?

Amendment bill related to allowances and pension of assembly members was passed in himachal pradesh assembly on Wednesday. The chief minister had presented this bill in the house on Tuesday. After discussion on Wednesday, the bill was passed by voice vote. Although the opposition members were against the amendment bill of this bill and were calling it an amendment filled with political malice, but the government got it passed by voice vote. This will have a direct impact on the pension and allowances of six disqualified congress MLAs.

Maximum impact on two former MLAs

This amendment will have the biggest impact on those two former MLAs, who won the elections for the first time. These include Devendra Kumar Bhutto from Kutlehar and chaitanya Sharma from Gagret. chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said in the house that the pension of these MLAs and the special rights given to former MLAs will end. bharatiya janata party members also raised questions on the retrospective implementation of this bill. Rakesh Jamwal said that the bill should be implemented prospectively and not retrospectively.

Membership was lost for violating the whip

It is worth noting that on 28 February, six congress MLAs had violated the whip in the himachal pradesh Assembly. After this, the membership of these MLAs was lost. These included Rajendra Rana from Sujanpur, Sudhir Sharma from Dharamshala, Indradutt Lakhanpal from Barsar, ravi Thakur from Lahaul Spiti, Devendra Kumar Bhutto from Kutlehad and chaitanya Sharma from Gagret. A few days later, these MLAs joined the bharatiya janata party and contested the by-election on a bjp ticket. In the by-elections of six assembly constituencies, only Sudhir Sharma from Dharamshala and Indradutt Lakhanpal from Barsar could win the by-election. The other four MLAs lost the election. It is believed that the MLAs who were disqualified earlier can also challenge it in the court.
