Prime minister Narendra Modi on friday lambasted at pakistan for promoting terror activities despite facing defeat in past wars. He said that the country has not learnt anything from its past mistakes. While addressing a gathering at Kargil war Memorial in Drass, he further gave a stern warning to pakistan saying that nefarious intentions of terrorism will never succeed.He further attacked the Opposition parties over the Agnipath scheme saying that some people are doing politics of lies for their personal benefit even on this reform of the army.
“The goal of Agneepath is to make the army young.…The goal of Agneepath is to keep the army continuously fit for war. Unfortunately, some people have made such a sensitive issue related to national security a subject of politics. Some people are doing politics of lies for their personal benefit even on this reform of the army. These are the same people who weakened our army by committing scams worth thousands of crores in the army.” he said.PM Modi paid homage to the Kargil war bravehearts at the war Memorial to commemorate the 25th anniversary of India’s victory over pakistan in the 1999 war.
The prime minister laid a floral wreath at the war Memorial to pay tributes to fallen heroes of the armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. On July 26, 1999, the indian army announced the successful culmination of “Operation Vijay”, declaring victory after a nearly three-month-long battle on the icy heights of Kargil in Ladakh. The day is observed as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to commemorate India’s victory over pakistan in the war.

PM Modi also carried out the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project, marking the start of construction of the tunnel, virtually. The Shinkun La Tunnel Project consists of a 4.1-km-long twin-tube tunnel which will be constructed at an altitude of around 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh, the statement said.Once completed, it will be the highest tunnel in the world. The Shinkun La tunnel will not only ensure swift and efficient movement of the armed forces and equipment but also foster economic and social development in Ladakh.

“We will mark the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas. It is a day to pay homage to all those who protect our nation. I will visit the Kargil war Memorial and pay tributes to our brave heroes. Work will also commence for the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. This project is important to improve connectivity to Leh, especially during bad weather,” he said.In a post on X, the Union minister said, “Today, on 25th anniversary of #KargilVijayDiwas, we remember the indomitable spirit and courage of the brave soldiers who fought valiantly in 1999 war. Their unwavering commitment, valour and patriotism ensured that our country remained safe and secure. Their service and sacrifice will continue to inspire every indian and our coming generations.”
Additionally, indian army Chief General upendra Dwivedi laid a wreath at the Kargil war Memorial in Drass and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War.
