In a historic Oval position speech on Thursday, US President Joe Biden stated his reasoning for quitting his reelection campaign: "I revere this office, but I love my country more." Insisting that democracy "is at stake and more important than any title," Biden said he resigned in order to safeguard it. "Defending democracy is more important than any title," the US president declared in his first lengthy speech to the country since declaring on november 5 that he will not run for reelection. He also endorsed vice president Kamala harris in the presidential contest.

However, here I am. He said he has dedicated his heart and soul to the nation and has been blessed many times in return, expressing his thanks for the love and support of the American people.

Rejecting calls for resignation, Biden lays out a six-month plan

US President Biden stated during his speech from the oval office that "doing my job as president" will be the main emphasis of his last six months in office. He disregarded requests from Republicans and their nominee, Donald Trump, who asserted that the incumbent president ought to step down because he is incapable of serving in this capacity.

• Biden declared that he would focus on reducing family expenses, boosting the economy, protecting civil rights and individual liberties, and combating political violence and hate groups.

• Biden pledged to work toward bringing peace to the Middle East, securing the release of hostages, and putting an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
