New criminal Laws.. Report to carry out revisions in a month!
A committee set up for state-level amendments to the new criminal laws in tamil Nadu has been ordered to submit a report within a month.
Chief minister M.K.Stalin has ordered the formation of a committee headed by retired Justice Satyanarayan to carry out amendments including name change at the state level in the new criminal laws implemented by the central government. The indian Penal Code, criminal Procedure Code and the Evidence Act were renamed by the central government and implemented on the 1st of last month.
The tamil Nadu government has said that the name has been changed in sanskrit against the Constitution Act and the laws have been introduced without any proper debate in the parliament and without asking the views of the states.
Chief minister M.K.Stalin held a consultation in the Chief secretariat about what legal amendments should be made on behalf of the tamil Nadu government in these new laws. Water Resources minister Duraimurugan, tamil Nadu Chief Advocate, Chief Secretary, home Principal Secretary and others participated in this.
The tamil Nadu government has informed that the chief minister has ordered the formation of a one-man committee headed by retired madras high court judge Satyanarayan to examine what amendments should be brought in the new laws including name change at the state level and make recommendations to the government.
The tamil Nadu government said that the committee will examine the laws and consult with various parties including state-level lawyers' associations and submit a report to the government within a month.
