The Information and Public Relations Department of telangana has recently issued an order extending the deadline for accreditation cards of journalists for three months, pushing the new expiry date to september 30. This extension comes just as the current bus pass validity is set to expire on june 30.
To facilitate this process, journalists are required to update their applications online by entering their personal details and uploading a photo along with their accreditation cards. Additionally, they must select a bus pass collection centre.
Once these applications are submitted, the telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will issue the bus passes. This issuance will occur only after the Information and Public Relations Department completes the online verification of the submitted applications.
The recent order by the Information and Public Relations Department of telangana, which extends the deadline for accreditation cards of journalists by three months until september 30, raises questions about fairness.
On the one hand, this extension appears to be a considerate measure, offering journalists additional time to update their accreditation details without losing their bus pass privileges. With the current bus pass validity expiring on june 30, the extended deadline ensures that journalists can continue their essential work without interruption, which is particularly important for those who rely on public transportation for their daily commute.
On the other hand, the requirement for journalists to enter personal details, upload photos and accreditation cards, and select a bus pass collection centre online could be seen as burdensome. The process might be challenging for some, especially if they lack wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital literacy or access to reliable internet services. Furthermore, the dependency on the timely and accurate verification by the Information and Public Relations Department adds another layer of complexity, potentially leading to delays and inconveniences.
In essence, while the extension provides much-needed leeway for journalists, the procedural demands may pose difficulties for some. Balancing the extension's benefits with the challenges of the updated application process is crucial in determining the overall fairness of this decision.
