If we talk about a year ago, this rate was at -3.8 percent in May 2023. This data released today is the highest since february 2023.

Increase in the rates of food items

Due to a huge increase in the rates of food items, especially vegetables and manufactured goods, the wholesale inflation rate has increased to 2.61 percent in May. In May last year, this rate was below zero at -3.61 percent. If the data of WPI is to be believed, the inflation rate has increased by 9.82 percent in May. At the same time, this rate was 7.74 percent in April. Talking about May, the inflation rate of vegetables was 32.42 percent. This rate was 23.60 percent in April. Talking about onions, the inflation rate is 58.05 percent, the inflation rate of potatoes is 64.05 percent. Talking about the inflation rate of pulses, it is 21.95 percent.
