How much is the cost of assembly by-election? 

The election commission has announced by-elections in 13 assembly constituencies of seven states of the country. By-elections are also to be held in three assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh. By-elections will be held in Dehra, hamirpur and Nalagarh assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. Voting will be held in these three assembly constituencies on July 10 and the results will be declared on July 13. It will cost Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore to complete the election process on each seat. The state government will have to bear this expense.

Burden of by-election on the people of the state

If by-elections were held along with the lok sabha elections on june 1 in these three assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh, then this additional expenditure on the state government could have been saved. After the completion of the election process on june 1, the resignations of all the three independent MLAs were accepted on june 3. After the resignation was accepted, as per the rules, its information was sent to the election commission by the assembly Secretariat. After this, the election commission announced by-elections in 13 assembly constituencies of seven states of the country.

These include three seats of Himachal Pradesh, Dehra, hamirpur and Nalagarh. Due to by-elections on three seats, the election code of conduct will be applicable in three districts of the state. These include Solan, kangra and hamirpur districts. Due to the election code of conduct, development work will also be halted here. The state government will have to bear the election expenses - Garg

Himachal Pradesh Chief election Officer manish Garg said that the State election commission has started preparing for the by-elections. Just like the recent lok sabha elections and by-elections of six assembly constituencies, now the by-elections of three assembly constituencies will also be conducted in a fair and peaceful manner. He said that june 11, i.e. today, is the last date for adding new voters. He said that the State election commission is working to ensure that maximum number of people vote in the by-elections. The Chief election Officer said that a candidate can spend a maximum of Rs 40 lakh in the by-election.
