The last date for filing nominations is june 7.Shiv Sena (UBT) on saturday declared Anil Parab and JM Abhyankar as its candidates for the biennial elections to the maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC). Parab has been nominated from the mumbai Graduates constituency, while Abhyankar has been fielded from the mumbai teachers constituency.Parab is a sitting MLC and former state transport minister in the maha Vikas Aghadi government led by shiv sena UBT chief uddhav Thackeray. Considered close to thackeray, Parab was also the guardian minister of Ratnagiri district during the tenure of the MVA government. Parab was first elected to the Legislative Council in 2012 and then re-elected in 2018.Abhyankar, the second candidate of shiv sena (UBT), is the divisional president of the teachers wing of the party. Abhyankar has also been the vice-president of the maharashtra State Minority Commission and chairman of the maharashtra State Scheduled Castes and Tribes Commission. The election commission (EC) on friday announced that elections for four MLC constituencies will be held on june 26 and the counting of votes will take place on July 1.
