Afghanistan Floods: The World Food Program has warned that the death toll due to floods may increase further, making this natural disaster a major humanitarian crisis.

Afghanistan Floods: Due to heavy rains and cloudburst incidents, severe floods have occurred in four provinces of Afghanistan. So far, more than 300 people have died in this flood and about 2,000 houses have been destroyed. The World Food Program has just warned that the death toll due to this natural disaster will increase further. Besides, relief material is also not available in sufficient quantity for distribution to the flood affected areas, due to which this flood has become a major humanitarian crisis. There is suspicion of spread of starvation in flood affected areas.

continuous floods for several weeks

ANI has quoted CNN as saying that there has been severe flooding in Badakhshan, Ghor, Baghlan and Herat provinces of Afghanistan. This flood caused by continuous rain has created a humanitarian crisis. WFP said , 'More than 300 people have died due to floods in Afghanistan. In four districts of Baghlan alone, more than 130 people have died due to the deadly floods, while more than 100 are injured. More than 1,000 houses have been demolished here. The situation is similar in other provinces as well, due to which the death toll is even higher. During the last few weeks, continuous abnormal rains have caused large-scale floods in Afghanistan. WFP is now distributing biscuits to the remaining people in the affected areas.

Local officials have also described the flood as terrible

Local officials of Baghlan province have also expressed fear of the death toll increasing further. According to CNN, officials have said that thousands of houses have been washed away, while thousands of hectares of agricultural land has also been washed away in the flood waters. Thousands of pet animals have also gone missing due to the flow of water in the flood affected areas.

Hundreds of people are trapped in demolished houses

Hundreds of people are also said to be trapped in houses that were destroyed due to flood water. Apart from this, thousands of people are stuck in flood affected areas due to terrible water all around. Apart from the interim government, the local people have also appealed to domestic and international organizations to rescue the stranded people. According to the international Rescue Committee (IRC), thousands of people have been trapped in the floods and deprived of essential services.
