Lok Sabha elections 2024 Phase 4 Voting: The campaign phase for the fourth phase has stopped on saturday evening. Now the fate of 1,717 candidates will be sealed in EVMs through voting on monday (May 13).


Lok Sabha elections 2024 Phase 4 Voting: The voting phase of lok sabha elections has now reached the fourth phase. So far, voting has taken place for 285 seats in three phases. Now the fourth phase of voting for 96 seats in 10 states and union territories will be held on monday (May 13), for which the election campaign has stopped on saturday (May 11) evening. In this phase, the fate of 1,717 candidates will be sealed in the EVMs with the voting. In this phase, 476 crorepati candidates are contesting the elections, while 24 candidates do not have assets worth even a single rupee. Similarly, 360 candidates with criminal cases can be categorized as 'tainted', out of which 17 have been convicted in the court. This is the arithmetic of richness in the fourth stage

According to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), this time in the fourth phase of lok sabha elections (Lok Sabha elections 2024), 28% i.e. 476 candidates are crorepatis. The average asset of every candidate in this phase is around Rs 11.72 crore. The special thing is that in this phase the assets of all the candidates have increased by about 7 times as compared to the year 2019. In this phase, maximum 70 crorepati candidates are from bjp, while 56 candidates from congress have assets worth crores of rupees. However, in this phase there are 24 candidates who have declared their assets as zero. In this phase, the maximum number of 92 candidates are from Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj party (BSP), but its candidates have the lowest average assets. The average assets of BSP candidates is Rs 1.94 crore.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani of telugu desam party (TDP) is the richest candidate in the fourth phase.

Pemmasani, who is contesting from guntur seat in andhra pradesh, has assets worth Rs 5,705 crore.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, bjp candidate from Chevalla seat of Telangana, has wealth worth Rs 4,568 crore.

TDP candidate prabhakar reddy Vemireddy from nellore seat of andhra pradesh has Rs 716 crore.

Amrita Roy, bjp candidate from Krishnanagar seat of West Bengal, has assets worth Rs 554 crore.

BJP candidate from Anakapalle, andhra pradesh has assets worth Rs 497 crore.

11 candidates are accused of murder in the fourth phase

ADR and 'The National election Watch' have registered criminal cases against 21% of the candidates in the fourth phase. The report, based on the affidavits of the candidates, states that out of these 360 'tainted' candidates, a case of murder has been registered against 11, while a complaint related to attempt to murder against 30 is under investigation. 17 candidates have been declared guilty by the court in various cases, but they are eligible to contest elections as the case is pending in the higher court.

Serious allegations of crimes against women also

Many of the 'tainted' candidates of the fourth phase also data-face serious allegations of crimes against women. There are 50 candidates against whom cases of crimes against women are pending. Five candidates are also facing investigation for raping a woman.

How many tainted candidates of which party?

Cases are registered against 40 out of 70 candidates of bjp, while 35 out of 61 candidates of Congress.

3 out of 3 candidates of AIMIM, 2 out of 3 candidates of shiv sena (Shinde), 9 out of 17 candidates of telugu desam party are tainted.

Cases are registered against 10 out of 17 candidates of Bharat Rashtra Samiti, 2 each out of 4 candidates of BJD, RJD and shiv sena (Thackeray).

Cases are registered against 12 out of 25 candidates of YSRCP, 3 out of 8 candidates of TMC and 7 out of 19 candidates of Samajwadi Party.
