In khammam district, however, 90 percent of the people of the kamma community voted for the congress after Tummala nageswara rao joined the Congress. In the wake of these developments, the tdp cadre also leaned towards the Congress. That made the congress feel victorious in the assembly elections.

Tummala nageswara rao, Ponguleti srinivas Reddy, and other leaders won with huge majorities. At that time, tdp leaders and activists gave the book that they worked harder than them in their success. Thus the ranks of the tdp, especially the kamma social group, have become very close to the Congress. In the wake of these developments, congress also demanded that the kamma community candidate should be given a chance for the khammam seat in the parliamentary elections, just like the BRS.
