The ysr congress Party (YCP) is aiming for a third consecutive victory in the srikakulam Patapatnam constituency. In the 2019 elections, reddy Shanti secured a win for the ycp, defeating the tdp candidate Venkataramana by a margin of 15,551 votes. However, despite their electoral success, the ycp has data-faced criticism for failing to fulfilltheir promisesmade during previous campaigns.

One of the key promises made by jagan Mohan Reddy's government was the implementation of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013, aimed at providing justice to those affected by the construction of the Vamsthara Reservoir. However, five years into their tenure, the Act remains unimplemented, with only a select few receiving increased compensation. Similarly, pledges such as establishing a junior college for women in Meliyaputty and improving medical services in rural areas remain unfulfilled or in the proposal stage.

Infrastructure projects, including the construction of roads, a farmer's market in Kothur, and a fire station in the constituency centre, have also been left unfinished. Additionally, promises regarding the completion of the vamsadhara project and the provision of irrigation water have not materialized, with significant work still pending.

These unfulfilled assurances have led to growing dissatisfaction among constituents, making it challenging for the ycp to secure victory in the upcoming elections. Mamidi govinda Rao, contesting on behalf of the tdp, presents a formidable challenge to reddy Shanti's candidacy. The outcome of the election remains uncertain, with voters keenly observing which candidate will emerge victorious and deliver on their promises for the betterment of the constituency.
