It has become a hot topic that congress party mp candidate Muddahanumegowda strongly objected to the ambitious project undertaken by karnataka DCM DK Shivakumar. Tumkur lok sabha Constituency mp candidate Muddahanume Gowda has expressed his displeasure over the project to take Hemavati water to Kunigal through Link Canal in Tumkur district. It was recalled that in the past, there was a plan to supply water to Ramanagara district on the pretext of providing water to Kunigal and Tumkur of Tumkur district, and when such attempts were made, the public representatives of Tumkur district raised objections. Despite this opposition, DCM DK Shivakumar Rs. 910 crore and laid the foundation stone for the link canal works. Currently, the congress party is campaigning for the lok sabha elections in Bengaluru Rural district about the Link Canal (Express Canal) project in Bangalore Rural.

When congress leaders from Tumkur district openly said there is no need for the Express Link Canal, DK Shivakumar's relatives were shocked. Speaking at a media conference in Tumkur, Muddahanumegoud expressed strong opposition to the link canal project. Muddahanumegowda expressed the opinion that the water should go to Kunigal through the existing canal and there is no need to make an express canal separately. Making the express canal separate will do injustice to other taluks of Tumkur district. Let the existing channel expand. He said that we would oppose Express press Canal in the interests of our district. If water is diverted to one taluk through an express canal, everyone starts doing the same. Muddahanume Gowda said that even when he was an mp in the past, he had expressed opposition to the construction of this canal.
