Who can have the darshan of Mahakal's Bhasma Aarti?

The incident of arson during Bhasma Aarti in the famous Jyotirlinga Mahakaleshwar temple has also given rise to the question of whether, during Bhasma Aarti, only eligible people are present in the sanctum sanctorum as per rules or are the rules ignored. Mahakaleshwar temple Committee has also started brainstorming on this question. The tradition of morning Bhasma Aarti has been going on in the Mahakaleshwar temple of ujjain since time immemorial. This is the first time in the history of Bhasma Aarti that an incident of fire has occurred. Special steps are being taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

Three more priests live with the chief priest

There is also a rule regarding being present in the sanctum sanctorum during Bhasma Aarti. Everyone has to follow this rule. sandeep Soni, administrator of the Mahakaleshwar temple Committee, said that the priest who performs the Bhasma Aarti keeps three other priests with him. Apart from this, two employees of the Mahakaleshwar temple Committee are also present. Some servants have also been continuously coming and serving in Bhasma Aarti for the last many years. They are also present in the sanctum sanctorum. He said that in terms of numbers, about 17 people were present in the sanctum sanctorum during Bhasma Aarti. After the accident in Holi, now the temple committee is also doing scrutiny on the people present in the sanctum sanctorum.

This is the tradition of Bhasma Aarti

In the Mahakaleshwar temple, first of all, in the morning, the doors of the court of Lord Mahakal are opened, after which the Lord is bathed with water, milk, curd, honey, sugar, etc. After this, the pundits and priests of the temple decorate the Lord with hemp, dry fruits, Abhir Gulal, etc. After adornment, ashes are offered by the Gadipati Mahant of Mahanirvani Akhara. As soon as the ashes are bathed, separate aartis of incense, ghee, and camphor are performed.
