Prime minister Narendra Modi's 'guarantee', ram temple in ayodhya and Congress's demand for caste census will be the major election issues in bharatiya janata party (BJP) ruled madhya pradesh during the upcoming lok sabha elections. lok sabha elections in madhya pradesh will be held in four phases on 19 April, 26 April, 7 May and 13 May. Counting of votes will take place on june 4.

‘Following are the major issues in the state for the lok sabha elections’

• Modi's Guarantee: If the assembly elections held in november last year in the state are considered an indicator, then 'Modi's Guarantee' will be the biggest election issue of the ruling party. The party will work to spread 'Modi's guarantee' like free grains for the poor and the achievements of the central government in the last ten years to the people.

• ram Mandir: bjp will take credit for the construction of ram mandir in ayodhya and attack congress for rejecting the invitation for the inauguration ceremony. The congress may try to blunt the criticism by saying that the lock of the first temporary ram Lalla temple at the disputed site was opened when rajiv gandhi was the Prime Minister.

• Hindutva: It is expected that bjp will raise the issue of Hindutva to woo the majority community. According to senior journalist Rakesh Dixit, the Congress' strategy will be to promote 'soft Hindutva' as it did during the assembly elections.

• Unemployment: congress can target the ruling party on the issue of lack of jobs. During his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in madhya pradesh, rahul gandhi claimed that the unemployment situation in india is worse than in Pakistan.

• Inflation: congress will raise the issue of inflation, especially the rising prices of essential commodities like milk and cooking gas.

• Goods and services Tax (GST): The opposition party claimed that the Goods and services Tax has ruined small businesses and hit the poor hard by increasing prices for the end consumer.

• Caste Census and Other backward classes (OBC): Almost half of the population of madhya pradesh belongs to Other Backward Classes. Mohan Yadav is the fourth OBC chief minister of bjp since 2003. Meanwhile, congress leader rahul gandhi has been claiming that the caste census will be a revolutionary step as it will reveal how OBCs, Scheduled Castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) have little or no presence in many sectors of the economy.
