Perhaps before the lok sabha elections, the central government has given great relief to the common people. Modi government reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by two rupees per liter each. The new rates will come into effect from 6 am on Friday. The Petroleum Ministry said that it has been decided to revise the retail prices of petrol and diesel. uddhav group mp Sanjay Raut has targeted the Modi government regarding this decision.

Meanwhile on the reduction of petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre, shiv sena (UBT) mp Sanjay Raut said, "What is this for two rupees? elections are about to take place, so they reduced the prices by two rupees. First, lakhs of crores of rupees will go to the public." If it is collected from the pocket then what about it? When manmohan Singh's government was there, the gas cylinder was Rs 400, now it is Rs 1100. Now it has been reduced by two rupees."

The prices of these petroleum products had remained stable for almost two years. This step has been taken as the announcement of general election dates is nearing. There is a possibility that the election commission may announce the election dates soon. After this cut, the price of petrol in mumbai has come down to Rs 104.21 per liter. Whereas the price of diesel is Rs 92.15 per liter. On march 14, the price of petrol per liter was Rs 106.31 and diesel was Rs 94.27 per liter.

The government had freed the prices of petrol and diesel from its control about a decade ago and the petroleum companies had been deciding the prices. But on Thursday, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced the price cut through the social media platform 'X'. A week before this, a reduction of Rs 100 per cylinder in the price of domestic cooking gas LPG was announced.
