BJP's Pradeep Verma wins unopposed from Jharkhand?

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Sarfaraz ahmed and bharatiya janata party (BJP) pradeep Verma were elected unopposed to the rajya sabha from jharkhand on Thursday. election Officer Syed Javed Haider handed over the certificate of election after declaring him the winner. Haider said, “Since only two candidates were in the fray for two rajya sabha seats in jharkhand, he was declared the winner unopposed.”

After receiving the certificate, Verma thanked the bjp leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility. bjp state general secretary Verma said, “The party has given a big responsibility to a small worker like me. I thank our senior leaders for this. I will try to become the voice of jharkhand in the Upper house of Parliament.

Ahmed, who resigned from the post of mla in January, said that he would raise issues related to jharkhand in the Rajya Sabha. Ahmed, a PhD holder, has been active in politics for a long time. He was first elected as an mla in undivided bihar in 1980 and represented the Giridih constituency in parliament from 1984 to 1989.


The tenure of two outgoing members of rajya sabha from jharkhand, sameer Oraon of bjp and Dheeraj prasad Sahu of Congress, is ending on May 3. There are six rajya sabha seats from Jharkhand. Of the remaining four seats, two each are with the state's ruling JMM and the opposition BJP.


Both the leaders had filed nominations on march 11. Dr. pradeep Verma is the General Secretary of the State Committee of BJP. He has been actively associated with bjp for almost two decades. He has been handling various organizational responsibilities including Vice President, Minister, General Secretary in the state committees for the last ten years. He has also been the state in-charge of the party's membership campaign. During this time, the way he made the campaign successful by roaming around the entire state, since then he was considered deserving of big responsibilities in the party.
