Prime minister Modi led central government on monday announced the implementation of the citizenship amendment act (CAA) which attracted global attention. American singer and actress Mary Millben hailed PM Modi and the indian government over the implementation of caa and called it a “pathway towards peace and a true act of democracy.” “As a Christian, woman of faith, and global advocate for religious freedom, I applaud the Modi-led government announcing today the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act now granting indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis from Pakistan, bangladesh and Afghanistan,” Millben said in an X post.

According to the caa notification, the act will “remove legal barriers to rehabilitation and citizenship to such persons and will give a dignified life to refugees who have suffered for decades. Citizenship rights will protect their cultural, linguistic, and social identity. It will also ensure economic, commercial, free movement, and property purchase rights.”

Millben further expressed gratitude to PM Modi, home minister amit shah and the indian government for their “compassionate leadership and most importantly for upholding religious freedom in welcoming those persecuted”. As per the caa notification, the Act aims to give a dignified life to refugees who have suffered for decades. caa will not take away the citizenship of any indian citizen, irrespective of religion. This Act is only for those who have suffered persecution for years and have no other shelter in the world except India.
