It is known that the assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and odisha will be held along with the parliamentary elections. In this background, there is an unprecedented demand for helicopters and choppers. helicopters are required for parties to conduct extensive election campaigns and participate in two or three meetings a day. helicopters can be anywhere in the state within an hour. This adds up to a lot of time. When mp tickets joined the party, helicopters became more and more popular.
All the parties are chanting the same mantra to campaign with the main leaders of the ruling and opposition parties as well as the national leaders who come in between. Helicopter is the only means of traveling to more constituencies in less time. Due to this, there is a demand for these at the time of elections. In the wake of assembly elections in three states and parliamentary elections, there has been a huge demand for helicopter rental companies. Currently, the rent for a helicopter is between Rs.1.50 lakh to Rs.2 lakh per hour. Also for choppers, it is Rs.4.50 lakh to Rs.5.50 lakh per hour.
During the 2019 elections, they used to charge from Rs.55 thousand to Rs.1.30 lakh per hour for each helicopter. Now it is triple the rate. Depending on the type of helicopter, the parties are paying Rs.2 lakh to Rs.3.50 lakh per hour. It is worth noting that the cost of airfares, airport handling charges, fuel transportation, staff accommodation, and food are added to these. Currently, there are 350 chartered planes and more than 175 helicopters in our country. Mumbai-based private charter company Flying Birds Aviation has four helicopters and six jets. A few more helicopters were hired and attached in the wake of the elections. During the 2019 general elections, there was an average demand of 70–100 helicopters. But only 40 were available at that time. This year the demand for helicopters has increased to 100-130. However industry sources revealed that only 50-60 aircraft can be supplied. As the number of helicopters is low and the demand is high, the rental prices of helicopters have also increased.
