Former minister Swami Prasadam Maurya wrote - "Indian National congress General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Shri avinash Pandey came to his personal residence in lucknow and had a formal meeting and there was a positive discussion on the expansion of the india Alliance."

congress is contesting elections in UP in alliance with SP. Under this alliance, congress will contest elections on 17 seats of UP, congress will support SP candidates on the remaining seats. SP has just announced the names of its candidates on some seats, although congress has not yet announced its candidates in UP.
